I can’t believe it’s been five years already. I wish I had had my future more solidly secure before you died so that I knew that you were aware of who I’d turn out to be. So many times over the last four years I’ve thought of many things we had in common that I just wasn’t aware of then. I knew we shared similar tastes in music and laughed at a lot of the same things, but I don’t think I realized how much deeper than it went. I think that you believed that I got my music skills from mom, but I hope you know that I got my love of numbers from you. I wish I could talk to you about tax because I think you’d be one of the few people to understand the sick level of passion I have for it.

I wish we were celebrating my graduation together. I remember telling myself five years ago that you wouldn’t be here and that I was alright with that. But these years have made me more selfish and the recognition that you’re in a better, pain-free place doesn’t always bring me the same comfort it used to. Recently though, I’ve started to think that maybe, in some way, you will be at graduation. Because honestly, I don’t think I’d be doing this if it weren’t for you, if there wasn’t some part of me that wanted to find out why numbers intrigued you. I mean, yeah, I enjoy accounting in my own right but it was definitely you who convinced me to try it in the first place. I’m not sure if you recognized that common trait in us, but I hope you did and I hope that, somehow, you know how much closer it’s brought me to you and how much I’ll be thinking of you these next few weeks as another chapter of my life wraps up.

Before getting started, take your oranges and cut them in half. Spoon out the inside of the oranges, leaving just the peel. Blot the inside with paper towels to get it as dry as possible.

Your Jello package will tell you to boil 1 cup water and add it to the Jello mix in a bowl. Do this part just that way. Now, it will tell you to add 1 cup cold water. For this, you will mix 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup cold vodka (any kind) and mix it in.

Pour your Jello mixture into the orange peels, and refrigerate until set, preferably you should make these at least the night before you need them, to ensure they are nice and firm. When they are done, slice each half into threes. You now have very unique Jello shots that will have your friends talking!

An amazing article about the ways in which women are using a traditional two line poetry form to express their resistance to male oppression, their feelings about love (considered blasphemous), and their doubts about religion.
